Azimuth System Check

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

General Procedure

1. NOTE: The object used in this system check can be fabricated from 76.2 mm (3 in) OD 990.6 mm (39 in) length pipe (from a hardware or plumbing supply).

NOTE: The following system check should be carried out with the vehicle on a level surface. The specified object locations are approximate, not absolute.

NOTE: The scan tool may be used to monitor distance PIDs (Parameter Identifications). The distance PIDs (Parameter Identifications) read between 0 and 255 cm (0 and 8 ft) on a correctly functioning system.
Turn the ignition to the ON position, engine off.





2. Set the parking brake on.

3. For front park aid, place the gear shift in DRIVE (D).

4. For rear park aid, place the gear shift in REVERSE (R).

5. Verify that the parking aid system detects the specified object when placed within the specified locations (P1, P2, P3, P4). The pipe should be inside of these locations.

1. The audio speaker warning tone rate increases as the object is moved closer to the vehicle. When the object is within 304.8 mm (12 in) of the bumper, the tone should be continuous.

2. If the parking aid system does not detect the object, REFER to Symptom Chart: Parking Aid - Audible Parking Aid - Audible.
