PINPOINT TEST G : EXCESSIVE NOISE
G1 CHECK THE TRANSAXLE NEUTRAL POSITION
- Start engine and run it in neutral.
- Press clutch pedal fully.
Are there noises when the clutch is operated?
Yes
GO to G2.
No
There is a problem with the transaxle. GO to Symptom Chart - Transaxle if necessary Symptom Chart - Transaxle.
G2 TEST THE CLUTCH PEDAL FREE TRAVEL
- Manually press the clutch pedal down until resistance is felt, then release.
- Measure pedal travel.
Is the travel within 10 mm (0.393 in)?
Yes
GO to G3.
No
REFER to Clutch, M/T.
G3 TEST THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER WITH RELEASE BEARING
- Remove the transaxle.
- Check the clutch slave cylinder bolts.
- Check the release bearing for wear and rust.
Are the bolts loose or are there signs of wear or rust?
Yes
TIGHTEN the bolts or INSTALL a new clutch slave cylinder with the release bearing. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to G4.
G4 TEST THE CLUTCH FRICTION DISC TORSION SPRINGS
- Check torsion springs for wear or damage.
Do the torsion springs have signs of wear or damage?
Yes
INSTALL a new clutch disc. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
CHECK the crankshaft end play.
