Removal
NOTICE: Whenever turbocharger air intake system components are removed, always cover open ports to protect from debris. It is important that no foreign material enter the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes are susceptible to damage from even small particles. All components should be inspected and cleaned, if necessary, prior to installation or reassembly.
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.
2. Disconnect the cooling fan motor electrical connector.
3. Remove the 4 retainers and the underbody shield.
4. NOTE: Index-mark the LH Charge Air Cooler (CAC) tube position for reference during installation.
Working from below disconnect the LH CAC tube from the CAC adapter.
5. Remove the lower bolt from the CAC adapter.
6. Detach the lower radiator hose retainer from the cooling fan and shroud.
7. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly and ACL outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
8. NOTE: Index-mark the RH CAC tube position for reference during installation.
Remove the RH CAC.
9. Remove the upper bolt and the CAC adapter.
- Inspect and install a new CAC adapter gasket, if necessary.
10. Disconnect the crankcase vent tube quick connect coupling and remove the crankcase vent tube. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
11. If equipped, detach the block heater wiring harness retainers from the engine wiring harness.
12. Detach all the wiring harness retainers from the cooling fan and shroud and radiator grille support.
13. Disconnect the LH Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
- Detach the HO2S connector retainer from the bracket.
14. Remove the 2 bolts and the cooling fan motor and shroud.
Installation
1. Install the cooling fan motor and shroud and the 2 bolts.
- Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
2. Connect the LH HO2S electrical connector.
- Attach the HO2S connector retainer to the bracket.
3. Attach all the wiring harness retainers to the cooling fan and shroud and radiator grille support.
4. If equipped, attach the block heater wiring harness retainers to the engine wiring harness.
5. Install the crankcase vent tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
6. Install the CAC adapter gasket, adapter and the upper bolt.
- Do not tighten the bolt at this time.
7. Install the lower bolt for the CAC adapter.
- Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
8. Tighten the upper CAC adapter bolt.
- Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
9. NOTE: Align the marks for the RH CAC tube.
Install the RH CAC tube.
- Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
10. Install the ACL outlet pipe and ACL assembly. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
11. Attach the lower radiator hose retainer to the cooling fan and shroud.
12. NOTE: Align the marks for the LH CAC tube.
Connect the LH CAC tube to the CAC adapter.
- Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
13. Install the underbody shield and the 4 retainers.
14. Connect the cooling fan motor electrical connector.
