Pinpoint Test N: DTC B125D:11 Or 15
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 117, Remote Keyless Entry and Alarm for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
If the circuitry to the start/stop switch (or the switch itself) fails, DTCs B125D:11 and/or B125D:15 may set. The run circuitry has dual circuits, so if one circuit fails, the second circuit still allows the vehicle to be started.
- DTC B125D:11 (Ignition Run LED Circuit: Short To Ground) - a continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the run LED output circuit from the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module is shorted to ground on 3 consecutive test-cycles.
- DTC B125D:15 (Ignition Run LED Circuit: Short To Battery or Open) - an on-demand DTC that sets when the run LED output circuit from the RFA module is shorted to battery or is open on 3 consecutive test-cycles. The RFA module conducts a test-cycle on the run LED circuits during every start cycle.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Start/stop switch
- RFA module
PINPOINT TEST N: DTC B125D:11 OR 15
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
NOTE: The ignition must be OFF to carry out the RFA module self-test.
-------------------------------------------------
N1 CHECK THE DTCs
- Connect the scan tool.
- Clear the RFA module DTCs.
- Retrieve the RFA module DTCs.
- Is DTC B125D:11 or B125D:15 present?
Yes
GO to N2.
No
REFER to Steering Column.
-------------------------------------------------
N2 CHECK CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: Start/Stop Switch C2195.
- Disconnect: RFA Module C2153d.
- Measure the resistance between the start/stop switch C2195-2, circuit CPK36 (VT/BN), harness side and the RFA module 2153d-8, circuit CPK36 (VT/BN), harness side; and between the start/stop switch C2195-2, circuit CPK36 (VT/BN), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the start/stop switch and the RFA module; and greater than 10,000 ohms between the start/stop switch and ground?
Yes
INSTALL a new start/stop switch. REFER to Steering Column. If the concern is still present, GO to N3.
No
REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
-------------------------------------------------
N3 CHECK FOR CORRECT RFA MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect all the RFA module connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the RFA module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new RFA module. REFER to Body Control Systems. RESET the parameters in both the RFA module and the PCM. REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset - Intelligent Access (IA) With Intelligent Access (IA). PROGRAM the IA keys into the new RFA module. REFER to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment - Intelligent Access (IA) With Intelligent Access (IA). TRANSFER the keyless entry keypad code into the new RFA module. REFER to Keyless Entry Keypad Code Programming in Doors, Hood and Trunk &/or Locks. CYCLE the ignition. REPEAT the self-test. Testing and Inspection
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
