Safety Belt Minder Deactivating/Activating
SAFETY BELT MINDER DEACTIVATING/ACTIVATINGPreparation
1. Before deactivating/activating the belt minder, set the parking brake.
2. Place gearshift in P (PARK) (automatic transmission) or the NEUTRAL position (manual transmission).
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
4. Unbuckle the driver and the passenger safety belt.
5. Place the parklamps/headlamps switch in the OFF position. (If vehicle is equipped with Autolamps, this does not affect the procedure.)
Deactivating/Activating
1. NOTE: Perform the following sequence for each safety belt as necessary while leaving the opposite safety belt unbuckled or the deactivating/activating program will be inhibited or terminated.
Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position. (Do not start the engine.)
2. Wait approximately 65 seconds until the safety belt warning lamp turns off.
3. NOTE: This step must be completed within 50 seconds after completion of the previous step.
Repeatedly buckle then unbuckle the driver or the passenger safety belt 9 times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled.
4. The safety belt warning lamp illuminates for 3 seconds.
5. NOTE: This step must be completed within 10 seconds from the start of the previous step to avoid automatically exiting the programming mode.
Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt once again. This deactivates the safety belt minder if activated or activates the safety belt minder if deactivated.
6. The successful completion of the activating procedure is confirmed by the following sequence of events:
- flashing of the safety belt warning lamp 4 times per second for 3 seconds
- the safety belt warning lamp turns off for 3 seconds
- flashing of the safety belt warning lamp 4 times per second for 3 seconds
7. The successful completion of the deactivating procedure is confirmed with the safety belt warning lamp flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
8. After the confirmation sequence, the safety belt minder deactivating/activating program is automatically exited.
