PINPOINT TEST A: THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING CHIME IS INOPERATIVEA1-A4:
A4-A5:
Normal Operation
When the key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder, the key-in-ignition warning switch closes circuit 158 (BK/PK) and provides a ground signal to the instrument cluster. If the instrument cluster detects that the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position and the smart junction box (SJB) communicates to the instrument cluster that the key is inserted in the ignition cylinder and the driver door is ajar, the key-in-ignition warning chime (located in the instrument cluster) sounds.
Possible Causes
- circuit 158 (BK/PK) open
- key-in-ignition warning switch
- instrument cluster
