Diagnostic Routine Q

Diagnostic Overview

The Ambient Lighting Is Inoperative

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 89 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to Ambient Lighting .

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

- Inspect the climate control system operation and make sure it operates correctly.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK FOR COMMUNICATION TO THE HVAC MODULE

1. Ignition ON.

2. Using a scan tool, perform network test.

Does the scan tool communicate with the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) module?








2. CHECK THE CLIMATE CONTROL OPERATION

1. Check the operation of the climate control system and verify that all of the climate controls operate correctly.

Does the climate control system operate correctly?








3. CHECK THE AMBIENT LIGHTING LED (Light-emitting Diode) RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect: HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Module C228C.

3. Diode check:





Does the meter indicate the circuit is good?








4. CHECK THE AMBIENT LIGHTING GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable.

2. Measure:





Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?








5. CHECK FOR CORRECT HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) MODULE OPERATION

1. Disconnect the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) connectors.

2. Repair:

- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

3. Reconnect the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly.

4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?
