Diagnostic Routine T
Diagnostic Overview
One Or More Parking, Rear, Or License Plate Lamps Are Inoperative
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 92 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to Parking Lamps .
Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks
- Inspect the bulbs and make sure they are OK.
- Inspect the headlamp assembly for damage.
- Inspect the rear lamp assembly for damage.
- Inspect the BCM (Body Control Module) fuses 30 (15A) (front parking lamps) and 40 (10A) (rear parking lamps).
Pinpoint Test
1. DETERMINE IF ALL THE PARKING LAMPS ARE INOPERATIVE
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps on position.
Are all the parking lamps inoperative?
2. BYPASS THE BCM (Body Control Module) (REAR PARKING LAMPS)
NOTE: If the fuse in the jumper wire fails, refer to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short Electrical Diagrams.
1. Place the headlamp switch in the off position.
2. Disconnect: BCM (Body Control Module) C2280D.
3. Connect a fused jumper wire:
Do the rear parking lamps illuminate?
3. BYPASS THE BCM (Body Control Module) (FRONT PARKING LAMPS)
NOTE: If the fuse in the jumper wire fails, refer to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short Electrical Diagrams.
1. Place the headlamp switch to the off position.
2. Disconnect: BCM (Body Control Module) C2280E.
3. Connect a fused jumper wire:
Do the front parking lamps illuminate?
4. CHECK PARKING LAMP VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Place the headlamp switch in the off position.
2. Disconnect: Inoperative Lamp.
3. Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps on position.
4. For a front parking lamp, measure:
5. For a rear parking lamp, measure:
6. For a license plate lamp, measure:
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
5. CHECK THE INOPERATIVE PARKING LAMP GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. For a front parking lamp, measure:
2. For a rear parking lamp, measure:
3. For a license plate lamp, measure:
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
6. CHECK THE REAR LAMP JUMPER HARNESS
1. Inspect the rear lamp jumper harness for opens.
Is the rear lamp jumper harness OK?
7. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (Body Control Module) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect all BCM (Body Control Module) connectors.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins- install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins- install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
