Diagnostic Overview

The Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Are Inoperative

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) .

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

- Inspect the manual operation of the low beams (halogen headlamps) or the turn signals (HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlamps).

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE HEADLAMPS AND FRONT TURN LAMPS

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Place the headlamp switch in the headlamps on position and activate the hazard lamp function.

Do the headlamps and front turn lamps operate correctly?








2. VERIFY THE DRL (Daytime Running Lamps) OPERATION

1. Ignition ON.

2. Place the headlamp switch in the off position and deactivate the hazard lamp function.

3. Place the gear selector lever in any gear other than PARK (P).

Are the DRL (Daytime Running Lamps) illuminated?








3. CHECK THE TRANSMISSION GEAR INPUT

1. Using a scan tool, view the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).

2. Monitor the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) transmission gear status PID (Parameter Identification) (TR (Transmission Range)) while placing the gear selector lever through all its positions.

Does the PID (Parameter Identification) agree with the gear selection?
