Diagnostic Overview

The Cruise Control Message Center Indicator Is Never or Always On

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

NOTE: If DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0100:00 sets in the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster), other observable symptoms can be an inoperative speedometer, tachometer or odometer.

REFER to Cruise Control Message Center Indicator .

On standard cruise control vehicles, if the cruise control status message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) defaults the cruise control message center indicator to the last indication state (on or off) based upon the last know good message received. If the cruise control status message is missing or if the data is deemed invalid by the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0100:00 in continuous memory and defaults the cruise control indicator off.

On adaptive cruise control vehicles, if the adaptive cruise control follow mode display message is missing for less than 300 milliseconds, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) defaults the cruise control message center indicator to the last indication state (on or off) based upon the last know good message received. If the adaptive cruise control follow mode display message is missing or if the data is deemed invalid by the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) for 300 milliseconds or longer, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0104:00 in continuous memory and defaults the cruise control indicator off.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL OPERATION

1. Operate the cruise control.

Does the cruise control operate correctly?

2. CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATOR FUNCTION

1. Close all doors, hood and liftgate.

2. Ignition ON.

3. NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center cycles through each of the warning indicators. Allow the message center to cycle through each display while determining whether the door ajar message center warning indicator is active.
Open the driver door while monitoring the door ajar message center warning indicator.

Does the driver door ajar message center warning indicator turn off with the driver door closed and illuminate with the driver door open?

3. RETRIEVE AND RECORD THE DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module) KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) SELF-TEST

1. Using a scan tool, perform the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) self-test.

Are any PCM (Powertrain Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?

4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST

1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.

Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
