Diagnostic Overview
The Powertrain Malfunction (Wrench) Message Center Warning Indicator Is Never or Always On
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
NOTE: If DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0100:00 sets in the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster), other symptoms can also be present such as an inoperative speedometer, tachometer or temperature gauge.
REFER to Powertrain Malfunction (Wrench) Message Center Indicator .
If the engine service required, transmission malfunction indicator request or AWD (All-Wheel Drive) lock status message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the powertrain malfunction (wrench) message center warning indicator remains in the last indication mode (on/off) based upon the last known good message.
If the engine service required, transmission malfunction indicator request or AWD (All-Wheel Drive) lock status message is missing for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0100:00 and defaults the powertrain malfunction (wrench) message center warning indicator on.
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATOR FUNCTION
1. Close all doors, hood and liftgate.
2. Ignition ON.
NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center cycles through each of the warning indicators. Allow the message center to cycle through each display while determining whether the door ajar message center warning indicator is active.
3. Open the driver door while monitoring the door ajar message center warning indicator.
Does the driver door ajar message center warning indicator turn off with the driver door closed and turn on with the driver door open?
2. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module) KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
