Diagnostic Routine I

Diagnostic Overview

The Odometer Is Inoperative

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

NOTE: If DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0100:00 sets in the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster), other observable symptoms can be an inoperative speedometer, tachometer or temperature gauge.

REFER to Odometer .

If the odometer count message is missing for 5 seconds or less, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) defaults the odometer to the last display, based upon the last known good odometer rolling count message.

If the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) does not receive the odometer rolling count data from the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) for more than 5 seconds, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0100:00 in continuous memory and defaults the odometer display to all dashes (-----).

If the odometer count message is deemed invalid by the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster), the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0401:00 and defaults the odometer display to all dashes (-----). If the NVM (Non-Volatile Memory) becomes corrupted or if any NVM (Non-Volatile Memory) failure occurs, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC U3000:44 and displays ERROR in the message center display.

Pinpoint Test

1. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module) KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) SELF-TEST

1. Using a scan tool, perform the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) self-test.

Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?

2. CHECK FOR CORRUPTED NVM (Non-Volatile Memory)

1. Ignition ON.

2. Observe the message center display area.

Does the odometer display ERROR?

3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST

1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.

Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
