Diagnostic Routine G
Diagnostic Overview
The Speedometer Is Inoperative
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
NOTE: If DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0100:00 sets in the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster), other observable symptoms can be an inoperative tachometer, temperature gauge or odometer.
REFER to Speedometer .
If the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) does not receive the vehicle speed data from the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) for more than 5 seconds, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0100:00 in continuous memory and defaults the speedometer to 0 km/h (0 mph). If the vehicle speed data received is deemed invalid by the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) for 5 seconds or more, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0401:00 and defaults the speedometer to 0 km/h (0 mph).
Pinpoint Test
1. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module) KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
2. CARRY OUT THE SPEEDOMETER ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, view the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).
3. Select the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) speedometer (SPDOMETER) PID (Parameter Identification). Command the speedometer on and off while monitoring the speedometer.
Does the speed begin at 0 km/h (0 mph) move to 225 km/h (140 mph) and return to 0 km/h (0 mph)?
3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.
