Diagnostic Overview
The Parking Brake Warning Chime Is Inoperative
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
NOTE: Make sure that the parking brake warning chime operation is verified with the vehicle moving at least 4.8 km/h (3 mph) with the parking brake slightly applied (just enough to turn the brake warning indicator on without damaging the rear brakes).
REFER to Parking Brake Warning Chime .
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE SAFETY BELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Ignition ON.
3. Monitor the safety belt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to RUN.
Does the safety belt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds?
2. CHECK THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR OPERATION
1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Ignition ON.
3. Observe the brake warning indicator.
Does the brake warning indicator illuminate?
3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE BCM (Body Control Module) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
