Diagnostic Overview
Auxiliary Climate Control System Functional Test
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The purpose of this pinpoint test is to test the functions of the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system and to identify the correct pinpoint test HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) symptom.
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK FOR HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) MODULE DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)
1. Using a scan tool, perform HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) module self-test.
Are any HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) present?
2. CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR OPERATION FROM THE FRONT AND REAR CONTROLS
1. Using the front and rear auxiliary blower motor controls, observe blower motor operation and select each auxiliary blower motor speed.
Does the auxiliary blower motor operate the same from the front and rear controls?
3. CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR OPERATION
1. Using the front and rear auxiliary blower motor controls, observe blower motor operation and select each auxiliary blower motor speed.
Does the auxiliary blower motor operate correctly?
4. CHECK AUXILIARY TEMPERATURE CONTROL OPERATION FROM THE FRONT AND REAR CONTROLS
1. Start the vehicle and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
2. With the A/C (Air Conditioning) on.
3. Using the front and rear auxiliary controls, change the temperature setting from the coldest to the warmest and back to the coldest.
Does the temperature blend door operate the same between the front and rear controls?
5. VERIFY AUXILIARY TEMPERATURE CONTROL OPERATION
1. With the A/C (Air Conditioning) on.
2. Change the temperature setting from the coldest to the warmest and back to the coldest.
Does the temperature blend door operate the same between the front and rear controls?
6. CHECK AUXILIARY MODE DOOR OPERATION FROM THE FRONT AND REAR CONTROLS
1. Select the highest auxiliary blower motor setting.
2. Using the front and rear auxiliary controls, change the mode setting from panel to floor and back to panel.
Does the auxiliary mode door actuator operate the same from the front and rear controls?
7. VERIFY AUXILIARY MODE DOOR OPERATION
1. Select the highest auxiliary blower motor setting.
2. Change the mode setting from panel to floor and back to panel.
Does the auxiliary airflow change to the floor when floor selected and the headliner when panel selected?
