Diagnostic Overview

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 42 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

With the ignition ON, the ATCM (All Terrain Control Module) sends the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module messages over the HS-CAN (High Speed Controller Area Network). If these messages are missing for 5 seconds, the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module sets DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes). For information on the messages sent to the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module from the ATCM (All Terrain Control Module), REFER to Network Message Chart .

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions






Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

1. Ignition ON.

2. Using a scan tool, carry out the network test.

Does the ATCM (All Terrain Control Module) pass the network test?






2. CHECK THE ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) CMDTCs (Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes)

1. Ignition ON.

2. Using a scan tool, carry out the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module self-test.

3. Clear the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

4. Ignition OFF.

5. Ignition ON.

6. Repeat the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module self-test.

7. Record the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0138:00 retrieved again?






3. REVIEW THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) SELF-TEST

1. Check the recorded DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) self-test.

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U3003:16 or U3003:17 present?






4. CHECK FOR DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) IN THE ATCM (All Terrain Control Module)

1. Using a scan tool, carry out the ATCM (All Terrain Control Module) self-test.

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B11D9:16 or 17 present?






5. CHECK FOR DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0138:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES

1. Ignition ON.

2. Using a scan tool, carry out the self-test for all modules.

3. Retrieve the CMDTCs (Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from all modules.

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0138:00 set in any other modules?
