Diagnostic Overview
The Roof Opening Panel Does Not Open or Close - Shade
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 101 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to Roof Opening Panel - Shade Panel Operation .
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL SHADE MOTOR FOR INITIALIZATION
1. Carry out the roof opening panel shade motor initialization procedure. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Motor Initialization - Shade Roof Opening Panel Motor Initialization - Shade.
Is the concern still present?
2. CHECK THE FRONT SLIDING GLASS PANEL OPERATION
1. Attempt to open and close the front sliding glass panel using the roof opening panel control switch.
Does the front sliding glass panel open and close using the control switch?
3. CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL CONTROL SWITCH
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Control Switch.
3. Carry out the Roof Opening Panel Control Switch Component Test.
Is the roof opening panel control switch OK?
4. CHECK THE SHADE OPEN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Module.
2. Measure:
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
5. CHECK THE SHADE OPEN CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Measure:
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
6. CHECK THE SHADE CLOSE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Measure:
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
7. CHECK THE SHADE CLOSE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Measure:
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
8. CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MODULE FOR CORRECT OPERATION
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect and inspect the roof opening panel module connector.
3. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminal - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
4. Reconnect the roof opening panel module connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
