Diagnostic Routine A
Diagnostic Routine A
Diagnostic Overview
The Mirrors Are Inoperative - Non-Memory
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 124 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The accessory delay relay is located inside the BCM (Body Control Module) and supplies voltage to the master window control switch when the BCM (Body Control Module) energizes the relay by grounding the relay coil. The exterior mirror control switch is integral to the master window control switch and receives power whenever the master window control switch is powered by the accessory delay relay. REFER to Delayed Accessory Power . The exterior mirror control switch has only one ground circuit. The exterior mirrors share a common circuit for both up/down and right/left movement.
Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks
- Inspect BCM (Body Control Module) fuse 48 (30A) (base mirrors).
- Inspect BCM (Body Control Module) fuse 32 (15A) (heated mirrors).
- Inspect the exterior mirror control switch
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C535B (base mirrors).
3. Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C504 (heated mirrors).
4. Ignition ON.
5. For vehicles with base mirrors, measure:
6. For vehicles with heated mirrors, measure:
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
2. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT
1. For vehicles with base mirrors, measure:
2. For vehicles with heated mirrors, measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
3. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR COMMON CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Disconnect: LH (Left Hand) Exterior Mirror.
2. Disconnect: RH (Right Hand) Exterior Mirror.
3. Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C535A (base mirrors).
4. Ignition ON.
5. For vehicles with base mirrors, measure:
6. For vehicles with heated mirrors, measure:
Is any voltage present?
4. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR COMMON CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. For vehicles with base mirrors, measure:
3. For vehicles with heated mirrors, measure:
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
5. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR COMMON CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. For vehicles with base mirrors, measure:
2. For vehicles with heated mirrors, measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
