Diagnostic Overview

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK FOR HIGH VOLTAGE DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) SET IN OTHER MODULES
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, retrieve all continuous memory DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from all modules.
Are high voltage DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) (eg., B1317, B1676, P0563) set in more than one module?
2. CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE
1. Turn off all interior/exterior lights and accessories.
2. Start and run the engine at approximately 2,000 RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage.
Does the battery voltage rise to 15.5 volts or higher?
3. RECHECK FOR DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U3003:17
1. Turn the engine off.
2. Ignition ON.
3. Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) for the module in question.
4. Using a scan tool, perform the self-test for the module in question.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U3003:17 present?
4. CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM (Audio Control Module) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect all ACM (Audio Control Module) connectors.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the ACM (Audio Control Module) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
5. CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
4. Wait 2 minutes for the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) to re-initialize.
5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
6. CHECK FOR CORRECT FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
7. CHECK FOR CORRECT GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
8. CHECK FOR CORRECT AUDIO DSP (Digital Signal Processing) MODULE OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect all audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module connectors.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
