Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE USB (Universal Serial Bus) CONNECTION
1. Connect: 105-00120.
2. Using the 105-00120 , attempt to play a file using the USB (Universal Serial Bus) port.
Does the audio file play successfully using the USB (Universal Serial Bus) connection?
2. INSPECT THE USB (Universal Serial Bus) CABLE
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: USB (Universal Serial Bus) Cable At APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module).
3. Inspect the USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable for damage.
4. Connect: USB (Universal Serial Bus) Cable At APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module).
5. Ignition ON.
6. Connect: 105-00120.
7. Using the 105-00120 , attempt to play a file using the USB (Universal Serial Bus) port.
Does the audio file play successfully using the USB (Universal Serial Bus) connection?
3. RESET THE APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) AND RECHECK SYNC(R) SYSTEM OPERATION
1. NOTE: Carrying out a Master Reset returns all preference settings to the factory defaults, erases all the phone book and call histories, and deletes any devices paired with the SYNC(R) system.
Carry out an APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) power reset by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes, then reconnecting it.
2. Connect: 105-00120.
3. Using the 105-00120 , test the audio output for the audio input jack, USB (Universal Serial Bus) port, and Bluetooth connection using the VOICE switch on the steering wheel controls to enter each mode.
Do all of the SYNC(R) inputs function correctly?
4. ISOLATE THE USB (Universal Serial Bus) UPPER CABLE
1. Install a new USB (Universal Serial Bus) upper cable. REFER to Universal Serial Bus (USB) Cable - Upper .
2. Connect: 105-00120.
3. Using the 105-00120 , attempt to play a file using the USB (Universal Serial Bus) port.
Does the audio file play successfully using the USB (Universal Serial Bus) connection?
5. ISOLATE THE USB (Universal Serial Bus) LOWER CABLE
1. Install a new USB (Universal Serial Bus) lower cable. REFER to Universal Serial Bus (USB) Cable - Lower .
2. Connect: 105-00120.
3. Using the 105-00120 , attempt to play a file using the USB (Universal Serial Bus) port.
Does the audio file play successfully using the USB (Universal Serial Bus) connection?
6. CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) connector. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
4. Wait 2 minutes for the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) to re-initialize.
5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
