Diagnostic Overview
The Media Hub Is Inoperative Or Does Not Operate Correctly
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 130 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The media hub requires an external power and ground circuit to operate. Loss of power or ground disables all media hub functionality. One USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable connects the media hub to the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module).

Special Tool(s)
Pinpoint Test
1. RESET THE APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)
NOTE: Resetting the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) resets certain customer preference items.
1. Remove any USB (Universal Serial Bus) devices connected in the media hub.
2. Remove the BCM (Body Control Module) fuse 29 (20A).
3. Wait 5 minutes.
4. Reinstall the fuse and wait 2 minutes for the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) to re-initialize.
5. Test the system for normal operation.
Does the system operate correctly?
2. CHECK THE USB (Universal Serial Bus) PORT FUNCTIONALITY
1. Connect: 105-00120.
2. Using the 105-00120 , attempt to play an audio file using the USB (Universal Serial Bus) port.
Is the audio output OK for the USB (Universal Serial Bus) port?
3. CHECK THE SD (Secure Digital) CARD SLOT FUNCTIONALITY
1. Using a known good SD (Secure Digital) card, attempt to play an audio file and view images using the SD (Secure Digital) card slot.
Are the audio and image output OK for the SD (Secure Digital) card slot?
4. CHECK THE RCA JACK FUNCTIONALITY
1. Using the 105-00120 and 105-00121 , attempt to play audio content using the RCA jacks.
Is the audio output OK for the RCA jacks?
5. CHECK THE MEDIA HUB VOLTAGE SUPPLY
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Media Hub.
3. Ignition ON.
4. Measure.
Is the voltage greater than 5 volts?
6. ISOLATE THE MEDIA HUB
1. Install a new media hub. REFER to Media Hub .
2. Connect: 105-00120.
3. Using the 105-00120 , attempt to play an audio file using the USB (Universal Serial Bus) port.
Is the audio output OK for the USB (Universal Serial Bus) port?
7. CHECK THE MEDIA HUB VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module).
3. Measure:
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
8. CHECK THE MEDIA HUB VOLTAGE SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
1. Measure:
Are the resistance less than 3 ohms?
9. CHECK THE AUDIO INPUT JACK OR MEDIA HUB CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Media Hub.
3. Disconnect: APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module).
4. Ignition ON.
5. Measure:
Is any voltage present?
10. CHECK THE AUDIO INPUT JACK OR MEDIA HUB CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure:
Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
11. CHECK THE MEDIA HUB CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
1. Measure:
Are the resistance less than 3 ohms?
12. CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) OPERATION
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect and inspect the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) connector.
3. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connectors or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
4. Reconnect the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
