Diagnostic Overview

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK FOR DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) AND SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) SELF-TESTS
1. Using a scan tool, perform the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) and SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) self-tests.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B11D6:11 or B11D6:15 recorded?
2. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR BLIS(R) / CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LED (Light-emitting Diode) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Left Exterior Mirror BLIS(R) / CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LED (Light-emitting Diode) C576 (LH (Left Hand) concern).
3. Disconnect: Right Exterior Mirror BLIS(R) / CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LED (Light-emitting Diode) C676 (RH (Right Hand) concern).
4. Ignition ON.
5. NOTE: It is normal for DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B11D6:15 to set when carrying out this step. It can be ignored.
Clear the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) or SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B11D6:11 retrieved?
3. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Left Exterior Mirror C516 (LH (Left Hand) concern).
3. Disconnect: Right Exterior Mirror C601 (RH (Right Hand) concern).
4. Ignition ON.
5. NOTE: It is normal for DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B11D6:15 to set when carrying out this step. It can be ignored.
Clear the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) or SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B11D6:11 retrieved?
4. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR BLIS(R) / CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LED (Light-emitting Diode) SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) (LH (Left Hand) concern).
3. Disconnect: SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) (RH (Right Hand) concern).
4. Measure:
LH (Left Hand)
RH (Right Hand)
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
5. CHECK THE SUSPECTED EXTERIOR MIRROR BLIS(R) / CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LED (Light-emitting Diode) FOR ILLUMINATION
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) (LH (Left Hand) concern).
3. Disconnect: SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) (RH (Right Hand) concern).
4. Connect a fused jumper wire:
LH (Left Hand)
RH (Right Hand)
5. Ignition ON.
Does the LED (Light-emitting Diode) in question illuminate?
6. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR GLASS BLIS(R) / CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LED (Light-emitting Diode) FOR AN OPEN
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Left Exterior Mirror BLIS(R) / CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LED (Light-emitting Diode) C576 (LH (Left Hand) concern).
3. Disconnect: Right Exterior Mirror BLIS(R) / CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LED (Light-emitting Diode) C676 (RH (Right Hand) concern).
4. Measure:
LH (Left Hand)
RH (Right Hand)
Is the resistance less than 2000 ohms?
7. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR BLIS(R) / CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LED (Light-emitting Diode) SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Measure:
LH (Left Hand)
RH (Right Hand)
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
8. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR FOR AN OPEN
1. Disconnect: Left Exterior Mirror C516 (LH (Left Hand) concern).
2. Disconnect: Right Exterior Mirror C601 (RH (Right Hand) concern).
3. Measure:
LH (Left Hand)
RH (Right Hand)
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
9. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR BLIS(R) / CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LED (Light-emitting Diode) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
10. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Disconnect: Left Exterior Mirror C516 (LH (Left Hand) concern).
2. Disconnect: Right Exterior Mirror C601 (RH (Right Hand) concern).
3. Measure:
LH (Left Hand)
RH (Right Hand)
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
11. CHECK FOR CORRECT SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
12. CHECK FOR CORRECT SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
