Pinpoint Test F: DTC U2473

Normal Operation

The Parking Aid Module (PAM) receives the vehicle speed from the Instrument Cluster (IC) as a gateway message from the PCM.

- DTC U2473 (Unexpected Vehicle Speed (VSS)) - a continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the PAM receives an unknown vehicle speed message.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- IC fault
- Network data fault



PINPOINT TEST F: DTC U2473

F1 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE PAM ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST


- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: PAM Self-Test.
- Check the recorded results from the PAM self-test.
- Is DTC U0155 recorded?

Yes
REFER to Information Bus.

No
GO to F2.

F2 CHECK THE SPEEDOMETER OPERATION


- Observe the speedometer operation while test driving the vehicle.
- Does the speedometer operate correctly?

Yes
GO to F3.

No
REFER to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.

F3 CHECK FOR CORRECT IC OPERATION


- Disconnect the IC connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the IC connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
