Flushing
RADIATOR INSTALLED1. To remove rust, sludge and other foreign material from the cooling system, use Premium Cooling System Flush FlAZ-19A503-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M14P7-A that is safe for use with aluminum radiators.
2. Remove the thermostat prior to pressure flushing. A pulsating or reversed direction of flushing water will loosen sediment more quickly than a steady flow in the normal coolant flow direction. In severe cases where cleaning solvents will not properly clean the cooling system, use a pressure flusher.
3. Dispose of old coolant and flushing water in accordance with local, state and federal laws.
RADIATOR REMOVED
1. Back-flush the radiator upside down. Position a high-pressure water hose in the lower hose location and back-flush.
CAUTION: Radiator internal pressure must not exceed 138 kPa (20 psi). Damage can result.
2. Remove the water thermostat from the engine. Insert a high-pressure water hose in the thermostat housing opening on the engine and back-flush the engine.
