Center Mounted Brake Lamp - Removal






REMOVAL





1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the trim cover from the inside of the deck lid.
3. From the inside of the deck lid, disconnect the body wire harness connector (2) from the connector receptacle integral to the back of the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) housing (1).
4. If the vehicle is so equipped, disconnect the body wire harness connector (3) from the Passive Entry (PE) deck lid release switch pigtail wire connector on the back of the CHMSL housing.
5. If the vehicle is so equipped, disconnect the body wire harness connector (4) from the rear view camera connector receptacle on the back of the CHMSL housing.





6. Remove the two nuts (3) that secure the CHMSL (2) mounts to the two screw and retainer units (1) installed in the deck lid (4) inner reinforcement.
7. Insert a small flat-bladed screwdriver into the slot just inboard of the left CHMSL mount and carefully pry the integral latch tab inboard far enough to enable pulling the left side of the CHMSL free from the deck lid inner reinforcement mounting hole.
8. Slide the CHMSL toward the left side of the vehicle to disengage the right latch tab from the inner reinforcement mounting hole.
9. Remove the CHMSL from the vehicle.
