Instrument Panel Pad - Removal
TOP PAD
1. Open hood, disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
WARNING: Wait two minutes for the airbag system reserve capacitor to discharge before beginning any airbag system or component service. Failure to do so may result in accidental airbag deployment, or potentially serious or fatal injury.
2. Remove instrument panel defroster grille. Defroster Grille - Removal
3. Remove the glove box. Instrument Panel Glove Box - Removal
4. Remove left and right end caps. Instrument Panel End Cap - Removal
5. Remove the two screws (1) under each of the end caps.
6. Remove the instrument panel center bezel. Instrument Panel Center Bezel - Removal
7. Remove the screws (1) under the center bezel.
8. Remove nine upper trim panel screws.
9. Disconnect the passenger side electrical connector (1) and ground (2).
10. Pull harness down into the instrument panel to gain slack in passenger air bag harness when disconnecting.
11. From the glove box opening, remove the two nuts securing the passenger air bag to the instrument panel.
12. Separate the three retaining clips above the glove box, the two clips above the cluster and the one clip at the driver side HVAC outlet.
13. Lift the top pad up off of the instrument panel and disconnect the two PAB squib connectors (1).
14. Remove the instrument panel top pad (1).
