Passenger Airbag - Removal







REMOVAL

NON-DEPLOYED AIRBAG





1. Open hood.
2. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

WARNING: Wait two minutes for the airbag system reserve capacitor to discharge before beginning any airbag system or component service. Failure to do so may result in accidental airbag deployment, serious or fatal injury.

3. Remove both left and right A-pillar trim panels A-Pillar Trim Panel-Removal.
4. Remove instrument panel top cover Instrument Panel Cover - Removal.
5. Remove the glove box Instrument Panel Glove Box - Removal.
6. Remove two attaching nuts (2) retaining PAB to instrument panel assembly inside glove box opening.




7. Partially raise airbag cover and airbag unit to gain access to the squib connectors.

NOTE: The airbag wiring is secured to the lower portion of the right hand side "A" pillar. Disengaging the harness routing clip at this point will allow the passenger airbag assembly to be lifted higher to gain access to the squib connectors.

8. Disconnect the instrument panel wiring routing clip (1).
9. Disconnect the two PAB squib connectors (1).
10. Remove PAB from vehicle.
DEPLOYED AIRBAG





11. Open hood.
12. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

WARNING: Wait two minutes for the airbag system reserve capacitor to discharge before beginning any airbag system or component service. Failure to do so may result in accidental airbag deployment, serious or fatal injury.

13. Roll/fold PAB towards instrument panel.
14. Close door over folded airbag and tape door closed.
15. Remove both left and right A-pillar trim panels A-Pillar Trim Panel-Removal.
16. Remove instrument panel top cover Instrument Panel Cover - Removal.
17. Remove the glove box Instrument Panel Glove Box - Removal.
18. Remove PAB cover screws.
19. Remove two fasteners (2) retaining PAB to instrument panel assembly inside glove box opening.
20. Disconnect the two PAB squib connectors (1).
21. Remove PAB from vehicle.
