Throttle Body Replacement

Throttle Body Bypass Passage Inlets:

THROTTLE BODY (THROTTLE VALVE AREA) INSPECTION
Disconnect the air intake hose from the Throttle Body and check the throttle valve surface (for carbon deposits), by rotating the valve. If carbon or other debris is present, the throttle body should be cleaned.

Throttle Body And Components:

REMOVAL
1. Remove the air intake hose.
2. Remove the accelerator cable.
3. Remove the cruise control cable if equipped.
4. Remove the four bolts securing the Throttle Body to the intake air plenum and remove the Throttle Body.

Throttle Body Installation, Gasket Alignment:

INSTALLATION
1. Install a new gasket. Poor idle will result if the gasket is not installed with the proper orientation.
2. Install the Throttle Body and torque the bolts, in a cross-pattern, to 10-13 Nm (7-9 ft-lbs).
3. Reconnect the throttle cable (and cruise control cable, if equipped).
4. Reconnect the intake air duct.

NOTE: For the initial adjustment of the Throttle Position Sensor and the idle speed screw, refer to Throttle Position Sensor/Adjustment Procedures under Computers And Control Systems.
