THEORY OF OPERATION:
The back-up lamps are activated directly by the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS). When the gearshift selector is in the reverse position, the back-up lamps are energized through the TRS.

No Diagnostic Trouble Codes are set for this problem.
TRANSMISSION EFFECTS:
Normal operation continues when this problem occurs.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
- Short or open in the back-up lamp circuit
- Defective back-up lamp bulb(s)
- Gearshift linkage out of adjustment
- Blown back-up lamp circuit fuse
