Cylinder Head Cover(s) - Installation
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Do not use harsh cleaners to clean the cylinder head covers. Severe damage to covers may occur.
CAUTION: Do not allow other components including the wire harness to rest on or against the engine cylinder head cover. Prolonged contact with other objects may wear a hole in the cylinder head cover.
NOTE: The cylinder head cover gasket may be used again, provided no cuts, tears, or deformation have occurred.
1. Clean cylinder head cover (1) and sealing surfaces (2). Inspect and replace the cylinder head cover gasket if necessary.
2. Install cylinder head cover and hand start all fasteners. Verify that all double ended studs are in the correct location.
3. Using the sequence shown, tighten the cylinder head cover bolts and double ended studs to 8 Nm (70 in. lbs.).
4. Before installing the ignition coils, apply dielectric grease to the inside of spark plug boots (1).
5. Install the ignition coils.
6. Tighten the ignition coil retaining bolts (3) to 7 Nm (62 in. lbs.).
7. Connect the ignition coil electrical connectors (1).
8. Install the engine cover.
9. Connect the negative battery cable (1).
