Vented Seat Motor - Removal





REMOVAL

Special Tools:






WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any front seat diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable and wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

NOTE: The vented seat motor located in the seat back frame cannot be serviced separately. The entire seat back frame must be replaced if the vented seat back motor is inoperative or damaged Seat Back Cover - Removal .

NOTE: On all models, the front passenger seat contains an Occupant Detection Sensor (ODS) to provide information to the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) Occupant Restraint Controller - Description .

NOTE: Driver seat shown in illustrations. Passenger seat similar.





1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the appropriate seat and place it on a workbench Front Seat - Removal.
3. When servicing the driver seat, remove the memory seat module and bracket Memory Seat Module - Removal.
4. When servicing the passenger seat, remove the heated seat module and bracket Heated Seat Module - Removal.
5. Disconnect the electrical connectors (2 and 3) for the vented seat motor (1), located on the seat bottom pan (4).





6. Partially remove the seat bottom cushion and cover (1) from the seat bottom pan (3) to gain access to the vented seat motor Seat Cushion Cover - Removal.
7. Using Trim Stick or equivalent (4), carefully disengage the four retaining tabs that secure the vented seat pad (2) to the vented seat motor.






NOTE: Illustration shown with seat cushion and cover removed from view for clarity. It is not necessary to completely remove the seat bottom cushion and cover from the seat bottom pan to service the vented seat motor.

8. Disengage the four plastic retainers (3 and 4) that secure the vented seat motor (1) to the seat bottom pan (2).
9. Remove the vented seat motor from underneath the seat bottom pan.
