Decklid Service Position

DECKLID SERVICE POSITION

WARNING: The decklid and attached components are extremely heavy and must be lifted with the assistance of a second individual. Failure to do so could result in personal injury or vehicle damage.

NOTE: This procedure is not necessary in it's entirety if the decklid will tilt rearward with the power folding top switch. In this case stop the folding top open event prior to the decklid leading edge closing downward and release the conventional decklid latch with the latch release cable. Proceed to STEP 8 for the remainder of the procedure.

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Conventionally open decklid with the key.
3. Remove the rear trunk trim panel.
4. Open the hydraulic pump valve (1) by turning counterclockwise.

5. Remove the left trunk trim panel.
6. Remove the right trunk trim panel.
7. Pull down on the deckbar cylinder (2) until it has reached the cylinder stop (3). As the cable assembly (1) moves with the cylinder the decklid forward latches will release.

WARNING: Personal injury or vehicle damage may occur if the decklid is moved forward once in the service position. The decklid will remain in the service position unassisted, however, will close rapidly and with great force if moved forward.

8. With the help of an assistant, lift the complete decklid assembly upward and backward into the service position.
9. Close the hydraulic pump valve by turning it clockwise.
