DR-15A Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor


This test must be performed with engine cold.

1. Connect diagnostic read-out tool to engine harness connector.
2. Start engine.
3. Place system in Engine Running Test Mode 64. Multiply reading on display by 10.
4. If display on read-out tool is reading approximately ambient temperature of 10°s:
a. Throttle fully closed, 1 to 1/2 volts. Be sure none of cables that are attached to throttle body are not misadjusted and are holding throttle open.
b. In between closed and open. Test should indicate an uninterrupted change of voltage between closed and open throttle.
c. Throttle wide open. Test should indicate at least 3 1/2 volts.
5. If volt readings are within specifications, proceed to Test 15 step B. DR-15B Throttle Position Sensor
6. If volt readings are not within specifications, replace throttle position sensor.
