One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
Note:
The following service procedure is to ensure that the U-Joint will be properly PHASED when installed.
2. Mark the relationship between the propeller shaft and the yoke.
3. Remove the retainer bolts.
4. Remove the retainers.
Note:
The following service procedure is to ensure that the U-Joint bearing caps DO NOT become separated from the U-Joint cross and prevent the lose of the needle bearings inside the bearing cap.
5. Tape the U-Joint bearing caps together.
6. Remove the propeller shaft from the transfer case if 4WD, or transmission if 2WD.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the propeller shaft the transfer case if 4WD, or transmission if 2WD.
2. Remove the tape from the U-Joint.
3. Align the reference marks.
4. Install the propeller shaft in the yoke.
5. Install the U-Joint retainers.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
6. Install the retaining bolts and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
7. Lower the vehicle.
