Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side (V6)

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the right front wheel and tire. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.

2. Remove the right wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement Service and Repair.

3. Remove the catalytic converter assembly. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (L20,LMF) Service and RepairCatalytic Converter Replacement (V6) Service and RepairCatalytic Converter Replacement (LGH) Service and RepairCatalytic Converter Replacement (LC8,L96) Service and Repair.

4. Remove the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement Service and Repair.

5. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts (3).

6. Remove the exhaust manifold (1).

7. Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gaskets (2).

Installation Procedure

Note:
To aid in installing the exhaust manifold to the engine, the bolt holes on the NEW exhaust manifold gaskets have tabs that will hold the gasket and the bolts in place.





1. Install the exhaust manifold bolts (3) to the manifold.

2. Install NEW exhaust manifold gaskets (2) onto the bolt and stud.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Position and install the exhaust manifold (1) to the cylinder head.

1. Tighten the bolts a first pass to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).

2. Tighten the bolts a final pass to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).

4. Install the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement Service and Repair.

5. Install the catalytic converter assembly. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (L20,LMF) Service and RepairCatalytic Converter Replacement (V6) Service and RepairCatalytic Converter Replacement (LGH) Service and RepairCatalytic Converter Replacement (LC8,L96) Service and Repair.

6. Install the right wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement Service and Repair.

7. Install the right front wheel and tire. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
