CNG Tank High Pressure Shutoff Valve Solenoid Replacement
Removal Procedure
Warning
Natural gas is highly flammable. In order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury, keep sparks, flames, and smoking materials away from the vehicle while you perform the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel system service.
Warning
The Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) system operates at pressures up to 24820 kpa (3600 psi). Relieve the CNG fuel system pressure before servicing CNG fuel system components in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Service and Repair.
2. Remove the fuel tank cover from the fuel tank to be serviced. Refer to Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Aft Tank Service and Repair , Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Cargo Tank Service and Repair , or Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Midship Tank Service and Repair.
3. Close the manual shut-off valve for the tank being serviced.
4. Disconnect the high pressure lock-off (HPL) solenoid electrical connector.
5. Remove the HPL solenoid coil retaining nut.
6. Remove the HPL solenoid coil.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the HPL solenoid coil onto the core tube.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Install the HPL solenoid coil retaining nut and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
3. Connect the HPL solenoid electrical connector.
4. Open ALL the manual shut-off valves.
5. Install the fuel tank cove to the serviced fuel tank. Refer to Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Aft Tank Service and Repair , Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Cargo Tank Service and Repair , or Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Midship Tank Service and Repair.
6. Install the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Service and Repair.
