Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side (V8)
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Separate the catalytic converter from the exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (V8) Catalytic Converter ReplacementCatalytic Converter Replacement (V6) Catalytic Converter ReplacementCatalytic Converter Replacement (LGH) Catalytic Converter Replacement.
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement Service and Repair.
5. Remove the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement.
6. Remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement Service and Repair.
7. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts and remove the exhaust manifold from the vehicle.
8. Discard the exhaust manifold gasket and the exhaust manifold to catalytic converter seal.
9. Remove the exhaust manifold studs.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the exhaust manifold studs to the new manifold.
2. Install the new exhaust manifold seal to the new manifold.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
3. Position the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
1. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts - First Pass to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
2. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts - Second Pass to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
4. Install the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement.
5. Install the spark plug wires. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement Service and Repair.
6. Install the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (V8) Catalytic Converter ReplacementCatalytic Converter Replacement (V6) Catalytic Converter ReplacementCatalytic Converter Replacement (LGH) Catalytic Converter Replacement.
7. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement Service and Repair.
8. Inspect for exhaust leaks.
