Starter Replacement




Starter Replacement (6.6L)

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (Service Precautions).




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the engine wiring harness nut (4).
4. Remove the engine wiring harness lead (1) from the starter.




5. Remove the positive battery cable nut (7).
6. Remove the positive battery cable lead (8) from the starter.




7. Remove the starter motor bolts.
8. Remove the starter motor.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the starter motor.
Warning: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
2. Install the starter motor bolts and tighten to 78 Nm (58 lb ft).




3. Install the positive battery cable lead (8) to the starter.
4. Install the positive battery cable nut (7) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




5. Install the engine wiring harness lead (1) to the starter.
6. Install the engine wiring harness nut (4) and tighten to 3.4 Nm (30 lb in).
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
