Strut Assembly Removal and Installation
Special Tools
CH 35669 - Wrench
For regional equivalent tools, refer to Special Tools Front Suspension.
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Removal and Replacement.
4. Remove the stabilizer shaft link from the front strut. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement Service and Repair.
5. Remove the front brake hose from the front strut. Refer to Front Brake Hose Replacement Front Brake Hose Replacement.
6. Using the CH 35669 - wrench (2) and the Torx(R) (1), loosen the upper strut nut.
7. Remove the front strut nuts (4) and the front suspension strut mount (3).
Note: Before removing the front strut assembly, place a clean shop towel over the wheel drive shaft boot.
8. Remove the front suspension strut mount nut (1) and the front suspension strut mount (2).
9. Remove the front suspension strut assembly (1).
Installation Procedure
1. Position the front suspension strut assembly (1) in the vehicle.
Note: Finger tighten the nut to hold the front suspension strut assembly in place.
2. Install the front suspension strut mount upper mount nut (1) and the front suspension strut mount (2).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
3. Install the front suspension strut nuts (4) and bolts (3) and tighten the nuts to:
1. First Pass: 85 Nm (63 lb ft).
2. Final Pass: additional 65 degrees.
4. Using the CH 35669 - wrench (2) and the TORX(R) (1), tighten the front suspension strut mounting nut (1) to 65 Nm (48 lb ft).
5. Install the stabilizer shaft link to the front suspension strut. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement Service and Repair.
6. Install the front brake hose to the front suspension strut. Refer to Front Brake Hose Replacement Front Brake Hose Replacement
7. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Removal and Replacement.
8. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
9. Install the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
10. Verify the front camber setting. Front Camber Adjustment Front Camber Adjustment.
