Engine Front Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the engine front cover bolts.




4. Remove the engine front cover to water pump bolt.




5. Remove and discard the engine front cover gasket.
6. Remove the crankshaft front cover oil seal with an appropriate tool.
7. Remove and discard the friction washer.

Installation Procedure




1. Install a NEW crankshaft front oil seal. Refer to Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Installation (65. Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Installation).
2. Install a NEW friction washer.
3. Position and install a NEW engine front cover gasket to the dowel pins.




4. Install the engine front cover bolts

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

5. Install the long water pump bolt (1)

Tighten the bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

6. Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (Service and Repair).
