Circuit/System Description
The driver information center (DIC) switch is a normally open momentary switch. Battery power is provided to the DIC switch via the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with the DIC switch signal circuit pulled up to battery voltage in the IPC. The battery positive voltage circuit is fused in the body control module (BCM). The switch input to the cluster is pulled low or grounded when a switch is activated. The IPC reads the voltage at the analog input to determine which switch input is pressed. The switch input to the cluster is set up in a resistor ladder format. The DIC switch includes the INFO and the SET/RESET switch. A simultaneous press and hold of the INFO and SET/RESET switch activates the MENU switch. The MENU switch is the third embedded switch used to activate the various DIC personalization menu.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, verify that when the DIC switches are pressed and released the DIC switch scan tool parameters toggle between Active and Inactive.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver information center (DIC) switch.
2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 ohms of resistance between the ground circuit terminal 7 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, verify that all scan tool DIC Switch parameters are Inactive.
• If any DIC switch parameters are not Inactive, test the signal circuit terminal 1 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC).
4. Ignition ON, install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 1 and the ground circuit terminal 7. Verify that all scan tool DIC switch parameters are Active.
• If any is not Active, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IPC.
5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the DIC switch.
