Oil Pan: Service and Repair




Oil Pan Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine oil from the engine crankcase.
3. Remove the exhaust front pipe. Refer to Front Pipe Replacement Service and Repair.




4. Remove the oil pan flange-to-transaxle retaining bolts.




5. Remove the transaxle-to-oil pan flange retaining bolts.




6. Remove the transaxle rear mount bracket.




7. Remove the lower reaction rod.




8. Remove the oil pan retaining bolts.

Installation Procedure




1. Coat the new oil pan gasket with sealant.

Important: Install the oil pan within 5 minutes after applying the liquid gasket to the oil pan.


2. Install the oil pan to the engine block.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice.

3. Install the oil pan retaining bolts.

Tighten the oil pan retaining bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




4. Install the oil pan flange-to-transaxle retaining bolts.

Tighten the oil pan flange-to-transaxle retaining bolts to 40 Nm (30 lb ft).




5. Install the transaxle-to-oil pan flange retaining bolts.

Tighten the transaxle-to-oil pan flange retaining bolts to 40 Nm (30 lb ft).




6. Install the transaxle rear mount bracket.

Tighten the transaxle rear mount bracket retaining bolts to 62 Nm (45 lb ft).




7. Install the lower reaction rod.

Tighten the lower reaction rod retaining bolts to 69 Nm (49 lb ft).

8. Install the exhaust front pipe. Refer to Front Pipe Replacement Service and Repair.
9. Install the oil pan drain plug.

Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 35 Nm (26 lb ft).

10. Refill the engine crankcase with engine oil.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.
