Transmission Cooler: Service and Repair



Engine Oil and Transmission Fluid Cooler Replacement


Tools Required
* J 41623-B Cooler Quick Connect Tool
* DT-47731 1/2 Inch Quick Connect Release Tool



Removal Procedure






Important: It is not necessary to discharge the refrigerant from the A/C system during oil cooler replacement.


Remove the A/C condenser mounting bolts and reposition the condenser.


1. Reposition the condenser to access the oil cooler. Refer to Condenser Replacement (Standard Cooling) (Condenser Replacement (Standard Cooling))Condenser Replacement (Heavy Duty Cooling) (Condenser Replacement (Heavy Duty Cooling)) .
2. Use the J 41623-B to disconnect the transmission oil cooler (TOC) lines from the TOC.
3. Disconnect the TOC lines from the TOC retainer clip.
4. Use the DT-47731 to disconnect the engine oil cooler (EOC) lines from the cooler.
5. Disconnect the EOC lines from the cooler retainer clips.
6. Remove the cooler mounting bolts.
7. Remove the cooler.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the cooler.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the cooler mounting bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

3. Connect the EOC lines to the cooler .
4. Connect the EOC lines to the EOC retaining clips.
5. Connect the TOC lines to the TOC.
6. Connect the TOC line to the TOC retainer clip.
7. Reposition and install the condenser. Refer to Condenser Replacement (Standard Cooling) (Condenser Replacement (Standard Cooling))Condenser Replacement (Heavy Duty Cooling) (Condenser Replacement (Heavy Duty Cooling)) .
