Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The calibrations for the instrument cluster are stored in EEPROM. When the ignition is first turned ON, the instrument cluster performs internal tests on the EEPROM and can determine the integrity of the EEPROM's non volatile memory. A DTC 51 indicates that either the EEPROM is not programmed or an internal malfunction exists.
TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. This step reprograms the instrument cluster using the scan tool.
3. If the programming procedure failed in the previous step, the most likely problem is an internal fault to the cluster. Before replacing the cluster, test the power and ground circuits.
4. Clear all DTCs in order to prevent any future misdiagnosis.
