CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The EBTCM/EBCM performs various diagnostic checks on itself. If it finds a problem, Code 71 will set.

TEST CONDITION(S)
1. Tested continuously.

FAILURE CONDITION(S)
1. While Standing or Driving: EBTCM/EBCM internal error is detected.

ACTION TAKEN
1. Code set
2. ABS and TCS switched "OFF."
3. "ANTILOCK" indicator ON
4. "TRACTION DISABLED" message ON. (vehicles with TCS)

TEST DESCRIPTION
Test numbers refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.
1. Checks for good connections from the harness to the EBTCM/EBCM itself.
2. Checks to see if the fault was false. If Code 71 resets, replace the EBTCM/EBCM.
