Exhaust Rear Auxiliary Muffler Heat Shield Replacement - Left Side

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning Exhaust Service Warning.


Warning: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning Protective Goggles and Glove Warning.


Caution: Refer to Exhaust Flexible Pipe Bending Caution Exhaust Flexible Pipe Bending Caution.

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

2. Remove the equalizer beam support bolts. Refer to Equalizer Beam Support Replacement Service and Repair.




3. Remove 2 exhaust hanger bolts (1).

4. Remove 2 exhaust hanger insulators (3) from the exhaust system (4).

5. Place the exhaust system onto the rear axle.




6. Remove the exhaust rear muffler heat shield retainer (1).

7. Remove the exhaust rear muffler heat shield from the stud.

8. Remove the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler heat shield - left retainers (2).

9. Remove the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler heat shield - left side (3).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler heat shield - left side (3).

2. Install the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler heat shield - left retainers (2).

3. Install the exhaust rear muffler heat shield to the stud.

4. Install the exhaust rear muffler heat shield retainer (1).




5. Raise the exhaust system and install the install the 2 exhaust hanger insulators (3) to the exhaust system (4) and the hanger brackets.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

6. Install 2 exhaust hanger bolts (1) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).

7. Install the equalizer beam support bolts. Refer to Equalizer Beam Support Replacement Service and Repair.

8. Lower and unsupport the vehicle.
