Crankshaft Balancer Replacement
Special Tools
* EN-45059 - Angle Meter
* EN-47981 - Crankshaft Balancer Holder
For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools (LDK, LHU) Tools and Equipment.
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Remove the right front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
3. Remove the right front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement Service and Repair.
4. Remove the right front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement Service and Repair.
5. Use the EN-47981 - holder (1) to counterhold the crankshaft.
6. Remove and DISCARD the crankshaft balancer bolt (2) while counterholding the crankshaft.
7. Remove the crankshaft balancer (1).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the crankshaft balancer (1).
2. Install a NEW crankshaft balancer bolt (2) and hand tighten.
Caution: Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
3. Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt a first pass to 150 Nm (111 lb ft), using the EN-45059 - meter. Use the EN-47981 - holder (1) to counterhold the crankshaft.
4. Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt a final pass to an additional 100 degrees, using the EN-45059 - meter. Use the EN-47981 - holder (1) to counterhold the crankshaft.
5. Install the right front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement Service and Repair.
6. Install the right front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement Service and Repair.
7. Install the right front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
8. Lower and unsupport the vehicle.
