Thermostat: Service and Repair

11 53 000 - Removing and installing/replacing coolant thermostat (S65)





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove intake air manifold Service and Repair.
- Drain coolant Service and Repair.





Release unlocking element (1).
Detach vent line (2).





Disconnect fuel line Service and Repair from fuel rail.
Release screws (2).
Unlock wiring harness of fuel injectors (1).





Clip injection pipe (1) out of holder (2).
Lay injection pipe, cylinders 5 to 8, to one side.





Disconnect plug connection (1) on coolant temperature sensor.
Disconnect plug connection (2) on solenoid valve.





Unlock coolant hoses and detach.
Release screws (1).

Installation:
Replace sealing rings.





Remove thermostat housing with thermostat forwards in direction of arrow.
Clean sealing surfaces.





Remove thermostat (1).
Check rubber section (2) for damage.
Remove connecting pipes (2).

Installation:
Replace all O-rings on connecting pipes.





Assemble engine.
Vent cooling system 17 00 039 Venting Cooling System and Checking For Water Leaks and check for leaks.
