51 44 011 Removing And Installing/Replacing Headlining (Version With Slide/Tilt Sunroof)







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove glass sunroof lid at front
- Remove both trims for roof pillar at front (A-pillar)
- Remove both trims for door pillar at top (B-pillar)
- Remove both trim panels for rear roof pillar (C-pillar)
- Remove ceiling light
- Remove mirror
- Remove mirror light
- Remove both sun visors and counter supports
- Remove roof switch cluster
- Remove all grab handles
- If necessary, remove makeup mirror
- If necessary, remove rear cabin A/C fresh-air grille
- Remove edge protection of all doors at headlining

Only necessary for complete removal of headlining:
- Remove front passenger seat







Release screws (1).







Brake light area:
Unclip trim (1).







Release clips (1).







Interior roof light area:
Release screw (1).







Switch cluster area:
Release screws (1).







Make-up mirror/rear cabin A/C fresh-air grille area:
Release screws (1).







- Move seat back of driver's seat to max. rear position.

Only if passenger seat is not removed:
- Move seat back of passenger seat to max. rear position.

IMPORTANT: The following tasks must be carried out with a second person assisting:







Support headlining (1) at front.
Unclip headlining (1) in marked side area in downward direction (2).
Carefully pull headlining (1) forward until headlining (1) is fed out of remaining clips (2).
Pull down headlining (1).

Installation note:
Unclip rear clips (2) from roof frame.
If necessary, replace faulty clips (2).







Only necessary for complete removal of headlining:
Feed headlining (1) out through rear door on driver's side.







Installation note:
Installation sequence:
1. Snap headlining at rear into clip
2. Screw down front headlining
3. Screw down rear headlining
4. Install grab handles at front first, then at rear
5. Screw down sun visors and counter supports
6. Install brake light trim
7. Secure edge protection of all doors at headlining
8. Add final details to vehicle
