Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair




64 53 551 - Removing and installing or replacing condenser for A/C system





Warning!
Risk of injury!
Refrigerant circuit is under high pressure!
Follow safety instructions for handling R 134a refrigerant.
Avoid contact with refrigerant and refrigerant oil.
Follow safety instructions for handling refrigerant oil Service and Repair.





Important!
Risk of damage!
Restart engine only when A/C system has been correctly filled.
Follow instructions for opening and replacing parts in refrigerant circuit!
If A/C system is opened for more than 24 hours:Replace desiccant insert for A/C system 64 53 515 Replacing Desiccant Insert For Air Conditioning System





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Drawing off, evacuating and filling the A/C system 64 50 009 Drawing Off, Evacuating and Filling A/C System (R 134a) are not included in the time value given for this work operation
- Remove radiator





Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 64 53 6AZ .
Detach refrigerant lines (2) and (3) towards rear from A/C system condenser (4).

Installation Note:
Replace sealing rings and moisten with suitable refrigerant oil.





Release screw (1).
If necessary, lay refrigerant lines (2) and (3) slightly to one side.





Unlock retaining lug (1) in direction of arrow and pull A/C system condenser (2) towards rear slightly.





Feed out A/C system condenser (1) upwards between vent line (2) and cover (3).





After installation:
- Evacuate and fill A/C system 64 50 009 Drawing Off, Evacuating and Filling A/C System (R 134a)
- Fill and vent cooling system 17 00 039 Venting Cooling System and Checking For Water Leaks and check for leaks
